WNBA Draft 2010 Complete Results Are Out

Jacinta Monroe, left, comes to Washington after the 6-foot-5 center tallied 289 blocks in her four years at Florida State.
The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft is a yearly selection of WNBA basketball teams from a pool of talented college and professional women’s basketball players.

This year, the WNBA Draft 2010 was held today, April 8, 2010. The first round was broadcasted on ESPN2 while the succeeding rounds were broadcasted in NBA TV and ESPNU.

In a lottery held last November 2009, the basketball team of Minnesota Lynx received the first overall selection of the WNBA draft 2010. This was followed by basketball teams Sacramento Monarchs, Connecticut Sun, Minnesota Lynx, and Chicago Sky receiving second, third, fourth, and fifth overall selections, respectively. However, since Sacramento Monarchs folded after the WNBA draft 2010 took place, their selection was eliminated.
So what are the first round results of the WNBA Draft 2010? Accordingly, the first basketball player selected was Tina Charles. She played for the UConn Huskies and helped them to win 2 undefeated women’s basketball national championships in a row. Connecticut Sun traded up to get the pick for Tina Charles.
For the basketball team of Minnesota Lynx, they got two great basketball players with Monica Wright from Virginia in the second pick and Kelsey Griffin from Nebraska in the third pick.
