Former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Michael Irwin has been accused of rape in a civil suit filed in Broward County, Florida.
The suit, which would not result in any prison time for Irvin, regardless of the outcome, is related to an incident that occurred at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe & Casino during the night of July 4th, 2007 (it also is reportedly possible that the alleged incident took place during the morning of July 5th.

Apparently, the woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous and only press civil charges, has been seeking a large sum of money from Irvin, according the Irvin’s lawyer. After Irvin reportedly turned down settlements of $800,000 and $1 million, however, the woman decided to press civil charges against him.
Irvin’s lawyer, Larry Friedman, has said that the charges against his client are “totally untrue” and that the only thing that transpired between the two was “meeting” each other. Friedman went on to say that the woman’s attempt at settling was “tantamount to extortion” because her complaint has “no merit.”
Michael Irvin was a member of many of the highly successful Dallas Cowboys teams of the 1990’s that took the National Football Conference by storm with their balanced offensive attack and stout defense. Irvin now works as a commentator and football analyst on TV.
