Fourteen-Year-Old Girl Vanishes from Georgia Home, Reported Missing on Feb. 21, 2010 Minneapolis public schools are in lockdown due to an internet threat received by the Minneapolis schools. Here are the latest lockdown update:
UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: The code yellow lockdown will be lifted at the end of the school day today. After-school activities and busing will proceed as usual.
UPDATE 11:35 a.m. All Minneapolis Public Schools were placed on code yellow lockdown this morning as a precautionary measure after we received a tip from local law enforcement agencies regarding a potential threat made toward a Minneapolis public school through two social networking sites.
On lockdown, instruction continues as usual, but students remain in their classrooms and outside access to buildings is limited. We have asked our staff to check the identification of anyone coming to our buildings.
We are working with Minneapolis police. We have communicated with families through our automated telephone call system to provide them with information as soon as we have it, and we will continue to use this system throughout the day as we learn more.
Parents do not need to come to schools at this time. This was taken as a precautionary measure to maintain safety in the schools.
