Snowmageddon

Whether you call it snowmageddon , snowmgasm or the super snow bomb, it’s happening right now. The epic storm which is threatening to dump more than 25 inches of snow onto Washington DC is coming right now, and people are taking cover.

Probably the most famous person to change their schedule due to the cold snap is Barack Obama, who will not have his familiar meeting with the press today.

New York and Long Island will also be affected by the snowmageddon, however they can only expect around 8 or 10 inches of snow. Washington could receive as much as 28 inches

The best news in this time? Energy shares and stocks soared when the forecast was revealed.

The Washington Post is responsible for the snowmageddon nickname – and it hopes people will be able to read the online version (as they may well be snowed in and unable to buy the paper).

Virginia governer Bob McDonnell declared a state of emergency in order to make sure that the storm doesn’t take anyone by surprise – and several public transport services have been suspended.

Wrap up warm and prepare for the end of the world – snowmageddon is here!
