American Airlines crash in Jamaica this morning put a cramp in some people's holiday plans. According to reports that have surfaced, the crash occurred when a plane overshot the runway. At the time of the incident, there was heavy rain which has inspired an investigation by FAA officials. However, other planes landed with no problems.
There were 148 people on board, and 44 people were reported injured. Out of the 44 injuries, 4 are said to be serious.
The plane had just arrived from Miami, and originally took off in the Washington, DC area. As many mid-south residents love to travel during the holiday season, it is quite possible that there were Memphians aboard the plane.
