Alyssa Milano Slams 'Jersey Shore' in Spoof Video

MYFOX NATIONAL) - The MTV show "Jersey Shore" has garnered a lot of attention with its cast of 20-somethings partying, fighting and strutting as they spend the summer at a house on the New Jersey coast. But the show's portrayal of Italian-Americans has caused outcry from some, most recently actress Alyssa Milano, who spoofed the cast members by posting a video of her transformation into a "Guidette."

Yahoo TV reported that Milano, who describes herself as an Italian-American, born in Brooklyn and raised in Staten Island, was upset by a clip of the reality show. In a 1-minute response video produced by Funny or Die titled "Evolution," the actress is transformed from a plain-looking woman into a orange-tinted, tanned, big-hair, outrageous character, similar to one of the main characters in the show. (Watch the video below.)

After the "Jersey" makeover is complete, the video ends with a disclaimer: "No wonder our perception of Jersey is distorted."

Milano's video is a spoof of the Dove "Evolution" ad , part of the skin-care company's "Campaign For Real Beauty" from three years ago.

In a statement to Yahoo , 37-year-old Milano said that she wanted to do something something funny and smart, and not too serious, "... who am I kidding? I jump at any opportunity for the world to see me with frizzy hair and without makeup."

A large Italian-American organization, UNICO National, has called on MTV to pull "Jersey Shore" complaining of the portrayal of Italian-Americans.

But one of the stars of the show during an appearance on the "Wendy Williams Show" countered that "Jersey Shore" is just about young people having fun, reported US Magazine . Nicole, a.k.a. "Snookie", said, "The Italian, whatever, national, whatever their organization is, they don’t understand that 'guidos' and 'guidettes' are good-looking people that, you know, like to make a scene and be center of attention and just take care of themselves."

In another controversy, a clip showing "Snookie" getting punched in the face by a man was pulled from the show, but continued to be used to promote the show .
